Solihull Council Apprenticeship Show 2013 was a huge success, attracting nearly1,800 parents and young people wanting to find out about apprenticeships and talk to local employers.
The show brought young people into direct contact with local employers Jaguar Land Rover, Mansell/Balfour Beatty, BT, Artemis, CouchPerry Wilkes, Secure Trust Bank and IAC.
On hand to support were a range of training providers, the National Apprenticeship Service and Solihull Council’s Employment & Skills Team to advise and guide young people as they decide their future careers.

From the moment the doors opened the crowds appeared. The young people and their parents welcomed the opportunity to hear directly from apprentices working in businesses at the breakout sessions held during the afternoon.
Michelle Williams, Managing Director of Artemis Executive Consulting, said:
“We spoke to lots of enthusiastic young people who came with a positive attitude towards apprenticeships. Following our preliminary conversations at the Show we will be inviting five youngsters in for formal interviews with a view to appointing a number of apprentices at Artemis.
“We view apprenticeships as a fantastic way to bring young people into Artemis and support our growth. Our previous apprentices have become highly skilled, motivated and effective employees that add real value to the company. Thanks to the team at Solihull Council for putting on such an excellent event.”
Councillor Ken Meeson, Leader of Solihull Council, said:
"This year's Apprenticeship Show was an enormous success, it shows a real desire from young people to take up apprenticeships and benefit from training alongside working and enthusiasm from companies to attract a future workforce with the skills and motivation which brings success.
“The success was down to a great combination of employers, training providers and the Council all under one roof and able to offer a complete package of help to get young people into work and training.
“Promoting apprenticeships is part of our ambitions to create a brighter future for our young people and build a prosperous Solihull. Apprenticeships could play a major part in achieving these aims”
